Bio
Stewart Hawley is the recipient of six KCACTF (Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) directing awards for such shows as Macbeth, She Kills Monsters, These Shinning Lives, Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, and The Mayfair Affair. As an actor who has been in full-feature movies such as Evening Star and Space Cadets, and the short film WHO, Stewart has also Fight Directed for the Rome Shakespeare Festival productions of Macbeth and Hamlet. Stewart published five scholarly articles: “Tai Chi R&D” Fight Master: Journal of the Society of American Fight Directors, “The Modern Symbolist Movement and Christianity” Christianity and Theatre, “What is Christian Theatre: The AD Players: A Voice in the Wilderness” Christianity and Theatre, “Wushu Weapons in the Beijing Opera” Fight Master: Journal of the Society of American Fight Masters, “The Italian, Spanish, and English Fencing Schools in Elizabethan England.” Quidditas: Journal of the Rocky Mountain Medieval and Renaissance Association. Vol. 30 and several book reviews found in Texas Theatre Journal and Asian Theatre Journal. Stewart is a creative artist, gifted director, and passionate educator. Many of his former students are now successful directors, actors, singers, educators, and performers around the world.
