Audition

Take Your Next Step!

The Alabama School of the Arts and Roger Breland Center for Performing Arts is honored to grant scholarships to all prospective undergraduate students who audition, are accepted and enroll. Each year, the University of Mobile Alabama School of the Arts gives more than $800,000 in auditions scholarship to our students!

We provide talent-based scholarships to undergraduate students that demonstrate considerable achievement and tremendous potential for further development in performance. These scholarships are awarded based on scholarship auditions to undergraduate music majors, music minors, and those that desire to participate in the Roger Breland Center for Performing Arts. Due to our National Association of Schools of Music Accreditation, participation in a large ensemble, such as University Singers and Symphonic Winds, and any assigned small ensemble are required for scholarship acceptance.

STEP 1: Start your application to the University!

The University of Mobile and the Alabama School of the Arts require that all students submit an admission application prior to auditioning.

STEP 2: Schedule your Audition by completing an Audition Application!

Audition applications must be completed in order to schedule an Alabama School of the Arts audition. Auditions can be done in-person or through video submission.

Video Submissions

Record yourself fulfilling the appropriate audition requirements based on the drop downs listed below. Once you’re satisfied with your recording, upload your video to YouTube. If you do not wish for your video to be public, you are more than welcome to make your video “unlisted.” However, we ask that you do not make it “private” because we will not be able to view it.

Once uploaded, send the YouTube link to asotaauditions@umobile.edu. You may submit more than one link (one link/video per song) or combine all songs into the same video/link.

Small Ensembles

The Alabama School of the Arts is proud to offer our students the opportunity to travel with a wide variety of small ensembles. Our ensembles use the talents of instrumentalists and vocalists and regularly travel throughout the Southeast, spreading the gospel through song. This year, Small Ensemble Auditions will take place through video submission and can be submitted at any time after your initial Alabama School of the Arts audition.

Audition requirements for Small Ensembles reflect the same requirements of all Undergraduate Majors – two contrasting selections chosen from different genres. Remember to display your passion and strongest talent as these ensemble selections are based on talent level. Video submissions provide an opportunity to prepare your best material.

Callbacks are up to the discretion of each ensemble director(s). If chosen, you will be notified in advance and given specific requirements and selections to prepare.

Please submit all Small Ensemble Audition videos via YouTube link to asotaauditions@umobile.edu.
