Bio
Stephen French, a theatre professional turned theatre educator, is so glad to have the opportunity to serve as a University of Mobile adjunct professor! Stephen is a graduate of both Auburn University (BFA in theatre) and the University of Montevallo (MEd in secondary education). After graduating with his theatre degree in the early 90s, Stephen embarked on a varied and rewarding career as an actor, director, costumer, acting coach, and all-around theatre professional. This chapter of Stephen’s life in regional and touring theatre allowed him to travel all over the country and have amazing experiences in the theatre arts which, in time, led him to want to share what he had learned by becoming a full-time educator.
Since earning his graduate degree, Stephen has been a teaching artist and a high school teacher of theatre, speech, and English and, up until his family’s working sabbatical in Costa Rica beginning in July of last year, he has spent the last nine years building and directing the theatre program at W P Davidson High School in Mobile, Alabama.
Stephen is excited and inspired by the opportunity to utilize his education and real-world experience to work with and inspire artists in doing what they love and doing it well.
