Livy Collingsworth brings a unique background to the faculty of Alabama School of the Arts. Extremely driven and personable, Livy cares greatly for her students and focuses on excellence in music presentation. In 2019, she graduated from University of Mobile with a B.S. in Music Education and immediately began teaching as a choral director in Mobile County, AL. As a recent graduate from Alabama School of the Arts, Livy offers a relatable approach as a director and mentor to music students.

As an undergraduate student, Livy traveled with the Voices of Mobile, presenting over 100 concerts per year regionally, nationally, and internationally during annual tours. She has performed at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Additionally, she has lead worship in some of America’s largest churches and in countries such as Cuba, Romania, and United Kingdom. This extensive platform experience provided a confident presence on stage which she instills in the group she now directs, Sofree. Sofree is an all-female small, touring ensemble in Alabama School of the Arts comprised of Freshman-Senior girls majoring and minoring in music. Livy says, “My favorite part about directing SoFree is watching my students accomplish things they never thought they could. I love the lightbulb moments and unlocking potential they never realized was there.”

In addition to traveling and singing during her undergraduate program, Livy worked as a part-time Administrative Assistant in the Alabama School of the Arts. Her attention to detail, and leadership qualities afforded her the opportunity to work with prospective students and copyright purchasing for large productions and ensembles. This position instilled a passion in her heart for higher education and in 2020, Livy accepted a position in the Admissions Department at University of Mobile. As a full-time employee of University of Mobile, Livy works daily with prospective UM students and current UM students. When she is not running rehearsals, giving a tour, or travelling as a recruiter, you can find Livy with her husband, James, and their two dogs!
