Bio
Dr. Andrew Goodwin stands as a distinguished alumnus and cherished member of the University of Mobile, where his tenure has spanned an impressive 18 years. From his beginnings as an undergraduate student, to his current esteemed position as dean of the Alabama School of the Arts, Dr. Goodwin has woven himself into the very fabric of the university’s culture. His multifaceted roles as student, staff member, creative director, arranger, artist-in-residence, adjunct faculty, and full- time faculty reflect his unwavering commitment to the institution’s mission and values.
He earned his first degree from University of Mobile in 2010, a Bachelor of Music in Church Music. He continued his academic journey showcasing his commitment to scholarly excellence and dedication to the arts when he obtained a Master of Arts in Worship and Theological Studies from Liberty University followed by a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from his beloved alma mater and home, the University of Mobile.
As a member of the Dove Award-nominated classical crossover vocal group, Veritas, Dr. Goodwin has established himself as a esteemed performer on the International stage. Since 2011, Veritas has captivated audiences globally, from commanding performances at Carnegie Hall to captivating cruises in the Caribbean and Alaska. Their collaboration with the highly acclaimed Miami Symphony marked a significant milestone in their career.
In 2016, Dr. Goodwin embarked on an unforgettable journey as a part of Grammy Award-winning artist Sandi Patty’s “Forever Grateful” tour, enriching the lives of audiences with over 150 performances around the country. He has also shared the stage and collaborated with many other esteemed Christian artists and professionals such as President George Bush, Natalie Grant, TaRanda Green, Dr. Ben Carson, Selah, Travis Cottrell, Jon Acuff, Nicole C. Mullen, Wes Hampton, 4Him, and others.
A pivotal moment in Dr. Goodwin’s career came as he worked alongside renowned David Hamilton on the project “A Time Together.” Together, they brought artistic vision to fruition setting the stage for a nationwide tour in 2022 in prestigious performing arts centers across the country.
Dr. Goodwin has performed in all 50 states, multiple countries around the world and in prestigious locations including twice at Carnegie Hall, three times at The White House in Washington D.C. and even The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. In addition to his decades of performance experience, he is a seasoned studio singer and worship leader. His voice can be heard on more than 20 projects, including 6 albums with Veritas, and he has joined and led hundreds of ministries and churches in worship over his tenure.
As Dean of Alabama School of the Arts, Dr. Goodwin brings his practical, real life experience as a touring artist combined with his pursuit of scholarly excellence into the classroom and vocal studio, giving students valuable insight and practical applications for being a successful singer, musician and worship leader.
He is husband to Jenna Goodwin and father to three very blonde children: Riley, Audrey, and Anderson. He currently attends Redemption Church in Saraland, AL, serving on the worship and creative arts team and is frequently seen cheering on the NY Yankees or smoking on his Traeger Grill.
