Bio
David White is a versatile drummer and percussionist who has been teaching in the Mobile area for over twenty years. Currently, Mr. White is part of the adjunct faculty at the University of Mobile where he is the instructor for drum set. In addition to UM, White also teaches drums and percussion at St. Paul’s Episcopal School and Azalea City Center for the Arts, where he is also on the board of directors.
Mr. White received a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance from the University of South Alabama before going on to study jazz drums with Ed Soph at the world-renowned music school, the University of North Texas.
As a professional musician, White has performed with numerous rock, jazz, blues, country and big bands all along the Gulf Coast. He was a section percussionist with the Port City Symphony and Gulf Coast Symphony, has played drum set and percussion for over forty local musicals, and performed with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. Some notable people Mr. White has shared the stage with include Ronnie Kole, Pete Christlieb, Lil Greenwood, Robert Drasnin, Reese Wynans and the Moscow Sax Quintet. White has also opened for Lou Rawls, David “Fathead” Newman, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Hoodoo Gurus, Dierks Bentley and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
David White can currently be seen playing drums with the Mobile Big Band Society, ChipJazz5, Doug Breau, Rebecca Barry and Dayspring Baptist Church.
