Associate Professor of Graphic Arts

Bio

Megan Cary is an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Mobile where she has led the curriculum development for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. In addition to her role as educator, Megan continues to practice professional design and has more than twelve years experience as a professional designer. During her career she has served in senior-level corporate design positions, as a creative and marketing consultant for nationally recognized brands and currently consults and produces work for large and small clients around the world in her self-branded studio.

Megan has been the recipient of many awards, most recently winning two American Graphic Design Awards from Graphic Design USA in December 2018. She is President of the American of Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) chapter in Mobile, and member of the AIGA National Emerging Designers Taskforce. She earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of South Alabama and a MFA in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art and Design. Her interest lies in blending traditional design theory with newer interaction design principles and methodologies to better prepare new and future designers for an ever evolving field.
