Bio

Enen Yu, co-concertmaster of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, is also the concertmaster for Mobile Opera, Pensacola Opera, and the Northwest Florida Ballet.

A native of China, Yu began to play the violin when she was 7. In 1998, she graduated from the most prestigious music school in China, the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and became the youngest member of the Beijing Symphony Orchestra at the time. In the same year, she accepted the invitation to study at the University of South Carolina, where she earned her Master’s degree.

Yu has performed as soloist with numerous orchestras, most recently the Lark Ascending by Vaughn Williams with the Panama City Orchestra. She also has played with orchestras and music festivals nationwide with conductors including Zubin Mehta, David Robertson, and Gerald Schwarz.

Yu is the founder and violinist of the Archduke Piano Trio and performs chamber music throughout the Gulf Coast region. As an active performer, she also plays in many community music series concerts and recitals. Yu is the strings director for the Alabama School of the Arts of the University of Mobile. She has also been working with many young violin students and has been a coach for the Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Yu proudly became an American citizen as an Alien with Extraordinary Ability, and she was an honoree of the inaugural class of 40 under 40 of Mobile, as well as an recipient of the 2018 Arty’s award of the Mobile Arts Council.
